My Danish Christmas

Welcome to my Danish Christmas Blog.

After years ( too many to remember) of making a Danish Christmas for my Danish husband and Canadian, I am sharing my recipes for how we celebrate Christmas.

Danish Christmas is celebrated on December 24th in the evening where we start with appetizers of herring and smoked salmon.

The main course is roast duck stuffed with apples and prunes, red cabbage and sugar browned potatoes.

For dessert we have the Danish rice pudding “Risalamande” followed by the opening of presents.

Then possibly if there’s any room left we may sneak a marzipan ball rolled in chocolate.

As for the wine, this year we will enjoy Hinterbrooks “Nomad” Travellers Riesling 2017 with the appetizers followed by Stratus Red 2015 for the main course.

Merry Christmas Glædelig Jul
