The traditional Danish Christmas dinner is usually served with a dish of small caramelized potatoes “Sukker Brunede Kartofler”

We use organic maple syrup instead of sugar and the result is the same.

The recipe is very simple but very delicious and pairs very nicely with the sweet and sour red cabbage “Rødkål” which also accompanies the roast duck beautifully.

2 lbs organic small potatoes

  1/2 cup organic maple syrup

2 tbsp. organic grass fed butter

Wash the unpeeled potatoes, place them in a pot, cover with water, then bring to a boil and lower heat to medium. Cook until tender. Rinse potatoes in cold water and peel.

Add butter and maple syrup to a large skillet and melt, when sizzling add the cooled potatoes sprinkled with fresh ground pepper and salt and roll the potatoes in the caramel until browned.

Serve immediately
